Painting & Fabric Crafts

Artist's Statement

Joyce is a retired nurse practitioner who has enjoyed watercolor painting for over 30 years. She teaches watercolor painting and alcohol ink painting. Her classes are designed to be fun and easy for beginners. Joyce loves to paint nature outdoors whenever possible and leads a plein air group of painters. She paints with transparent watercolor pigments only and her style is representational that leans toward impressionism. Painting with alcohol inks is another creative pursuit Joyce enjoys. She applies colorful ink to silk scarves, ceramic tile, yupo paper, and other surfaces. Fabric crafts occupies her evening hours while watching TV. Joyce took classes at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, DC and attended workshops with many master watercolor painters. Her works are displayed at ArtWorks Gallery, Murphy Art Gallery, and Blue Ridge Mountains Art Association.
