In coordination with the Program Director of the Towns County Senior Center and the Director of the Towns County Library, the Mountain Regional Arts and Crafts Guild offers a series of art and craft classes to seniors at no cost. Members interested in sharing their talents volunteer to teach one or more classes spanning a period of three to four months. Classes are held various day and last for an hour to hour and a half. Each instructor has an assistant so that everyone in the class gets some one-on-one time if they need it.
Seniors taking the classes range in age from 65 to over 90 with the average age in the 80’s. The enthusiasm of the seniors along with the pride they take in their finished projects is such a rewarding experience that teachers are eager to return.
The Senior Art Project is made possible through grants
awarded by Georgia Council for the Arts, Vibrant Communities Grant.
